Christian Dior Haute Couture - S/S 04.

This has to be one of, if not my favourite, collections ever.

This was the first collection by John Galliano that really made me realise how much of an artist he is. As can clearly be seen, the full collection is based off his trip to Egypt, taken just before he started designing the pieces.

I'm a bit obsessed with all things ancient Egypt so, of course, this collection appealed to me. But I just found every single piece to be perfect.
It's over the top, exaggerated and different from what other designers were doing at the time. Which for most, was nothing special. I also love that I can look at it today and still appreciate it.

The head pieces and all the jewels add to the dresses themselves and the way the models were asked to walk was very angular and made the collection feel even more realistic.

What I also loved about the collection was the make-up. Which, is amazing. I'm 99% the make-up looks are Pat McGrath, it looks like her work and I know John Galliano loves her. Let me know if I'm wrong though!

P.s here's a link in case anyone wants to drool over the collection!

Old Hollywood Glamour

Marilyn Monroe, Ginger Rodgers, Jane Russell, Jean Harlow and Maureen O'Hara (to name a few) are all ladies who I think posses this type of effortless elegance.

It's something which I think we don't see anymore. Even with people like Dita Von Teese and Bernie Dexter recreating, I don't think there will ever be icons like there was.

Anyway, onto my point. Season after season I see designers take inspiration from this era, changing it slightly or modernizing it, but always sticking to the same basic principle: Pencil skirts/dresses with or without corseting, fur, jewels.. essentially just glamour at it's best. I think it's great to see and in an idea world one day I will go out on a Saturday night and be surround by pencil skirts not mini skirts and fake tan.

Dolce and Gabbana Fall 2009 Ready to wear Collection has done exactly this. Taken 30's, 40's and 50's glamour and turned up the volume!

I love it.

It's power dressing, it's sexy and it's glamorous. There's also pencil trousers and bold prints all combined to give a feeling of luxury. With the 'hero' dress of the collection being a corsetted dress with an old La Traviata flyer pieced in.

As if this isn't long enough I need to throw in a picture of a dress which although could be called garish, I have fallen in love with ...

Louis Vuitton...

you've done it again.

These beauties can be ankle, knee length or thigh high boots. Love them. Love them. Love them.

I'm really liking LV's A/W collection this year, good things are coming from it. If anyone can find dupes of these let me know!

If only I had a £1,380 to spend!

Lush..

I'm loving Lush at the moment for skincare!

It wasn't till I took my cousin in to get some stuff for her hormonal face that I got chatting with the sales advisor and came out having spent £40!

My favourite thing at the moment is the Ultrabland Cleanser...

It is by far the best cleanser I have ever used. I've spend up to £30 on cleanser before, thinking it would do wonders.. but it didn't. This comes in at £ 8.94 for a huge tub and I love it!

I put it all over my face at night and then take it off with a damp cotton pad. AND it doesn't sting my eyes, yey! I've also been using it as a lip balm and on the dry skin on my elbows and it works a treat! I'm using it in conjunction with the Tee Tree Water Toner spray and it's done wonders for my skin after only a week.

Anyone got any other suggestions for spending more money at lush?!

TRENDS: Studs

They are everywhere, I know it's becoming a joke. Still, I love them!

I'd always liked the odd studded belt but it's became an obsession in the past year or two.

Especially when I saw these beauties...

Amazing doesn't even cover it!

It's everywhere now. Dresses, Bags, Jewellery and I swear the other day I saw a pair of studded legwarmers... it was not pretty!

I am trying to curve the habit but every time I pick something to wear and I'm not happy with it, I find myself hunched over my desk with said item, glue and lots of these little beauties...

Surely the can't be the only one!?

p.s while we're talking about Christian Louboutin, anyone know if this website is legit?
